    Why confusing???

The Business was mine to all intense and purpose, but i did not own it outright, only a 20% share. There were 3 other Directors all with more share holdings than me. Things weren’t going the way I would have liked.
So now i’m free and looking for something new!

    Lorriane,

Put it down to experience girl, I was in a 3 way partneship once (business I stress!) and it don’t work believe me. As i my case and it looks like yours as well two of the partners will invairable gang up on the odd one out and get their own way. When the two happen to also be crooks as in my case it can cost you alot of money as it did me, worst still it cost me ever since or have a single 50% partner that you can be on equal terms with, it’s like a marriage and you know what the Chinese say about two women (not being sexiest honest) under the same roof. So although it may not look like it now it may be a blessig in disquise. the lease on my garage premises. In future go on your own like I have

Do you have working copies of Flexi-sign, Ilustrator, CorelDraw (Corel more important in my opinion more flexible) etc and indeed a computer that you can do a bit of design work from home? I am sure I could put some work your way over the internet as I always have more than I can handle. There must be others out there that could use a service like that. If you were to go that way an ability to recieve a fax would be handy.

What about applying van graphics can you do that to a good standard? bit of a male job I suppose but you seem the sort of person that could handle that. I may have a job coming up in Croydon which is good from Wimbledon, for a few vehicles for an old longstanding customer but I don’t really want to slap down there from Harrow and unfortunately the guy I sent dow last time is no longer with us. Just a thought.

    Regards,

    Allan

Very sorry to hear about your unfortunate position Lorriane. We all seem to learn the hard way with partnerships as Allan says above. They do more damage than good in most cases. Well it sounds as though you have loads of experience and enthusiasm and I am sure you will be back on top in no time. Good luck. 😀

    Hi Everyone,

Things always have to end somewhere, Otherwise there would be no new beginings.

Allan & anyone else interested, I have my own copies of the following programs:

    Corel Draw 8 & 10
    Illustrator 9 & 10
    Photo Shop 6 & 7
    Flexi sign 5.8 & 6
    InDesign 2
    Quark 4.1
On my home PC and a laptop, I am connected to the internet via broadband so have no problem sending and receiving files.

I can supply some pictures of the work i have done if required. I’ve never done any sort of vehicle wrapping though. Would be happy to do fitting.

Infact i think i’ll have to put some pictures up on my own web site.

Hope it works out for you Lorraine…..

I was in and out of work for a couple of years in the early nineties. Bit of a story but I lost a very well paid job in London, so well paid that I was earning well above my supposed ability (Commission based) and with a 2 month old baby, a half built £50,000 house extension and an industry downturn I was stuffed. It took me some time to shake off the stigma of being ‘up xxxx creek’ and out of work til a friend pointed out to me…….’Don’t you realise that you can do what you damn well like now!?’ a positive stance if ever there was one.

So stay positive, ……….I’m sure you will and something better WILL turn up…………..

    Lorraine,

Surprised to see your posting..however should you ever consider living & working in the sun, I’m looking either to sell my business here in Spain or take on an experienced partner. I am in a completely unopposed position, 15 miles from Malaga in a nice mountain town. Although this is prob’ly not what you’re looking for, you would seem to be exactly what I’m looking for in a business partner. So, there you go…get back to me if this could be of any interest. If not, I thank you sincerely for your help via the forum in the past and hope you get yourself sorted out v. soon. All the best for the future

    WOW Lee,

Very tempting as it is, all that sun and sangria, but my recent experiance has made me think very differently about things. I would not enter into any kind of partnership or director status again unless I were a significant majority shareholder and even then I’d have to think very carefully.

There are many reasons at the moment stopping me from starting up my own business but I hope that one day this will be a goal I can persue, but for now i’m going to keep my feet firmly in the Employee sector.

Cheers for the offer though it had me dreaming for a bit 😆

Sorry to hear of your woes Lorraine.

If you consider moving to the Midlands…….. call me.

I’m flexible. I would consider an employee, selling the business outright, or a fellow shareholder/director who wanted to increase their share of the business over a period and allowing me a graceful exit.

Good luck with whatever you do.

Sorry to hear about your bad luck Lorraine, I thought you were doing really well so it shows how much I know.
I can also understand why you want to remain as an employee at the moment. As Mike already knows I am one step away from the same thing happening to me and I could go under anyday so I have a good Idea how you must be feeling. I read a post where Robert said he thought I had come on leaps and bounds with the aid of the site but it doesnt seem to have done me any good. I think my main problem has been that I am not and never will be a salesman.

Bob, I’d be able to get a job in Wales then as I have one leg longer than the other !!

Being a Salesman is something you can learn, given time, a lot of it is common sense. Forget about sales techniques and it’s so so easy. It is something that is important to any trade but is sadly overlooked when people start out.

What equipment, what staff, what premises, how much money do I need?

All come before CAN I SELL?
