    Hi Guys,

I was given an old family photo today taken during the 60`s. The owner was wondering if i could enlarge it and make a couple of copies so she could give to family members etc.

I have a Canon s9000 (A3) printer which produces excellent quality prints but it has occured to me that they won`t last long at all.

Is there anything i can do to the prints to make them stand the test of time or would i have to send it to a photographic lab?

    Cheers

    A couple of ideas:

Why not scan the print and then take the file to Boots for a proper enlargement.

Alternatively, you could print it yourself and then laminate using clear vinyl. I’ve got prints at home that I have laminated with regular, calendered clear vinyl and they show no signs of fading etc after 10 years.
Also, it makes them waterproof. A bit of care when applying with a felt squeegee can yield good results.

Oh yeah, I forgot….if you do go with the laminating method; if you laminate both sides it will prevent the paper curling by preventing moisture absorbtion.
