    Hey folks,

Doing our first job with locators. Always tended to apply any cut letters straight to a sign instead of sticking them on these.

    Smaller letters are fine.
We have some bigger letters at about 1000mm x 600mm each. All of which have multiple locators on them.
Using tensol 12 for bonding male parts. Giving back of the letter a wee sand to remove the shine in each area. Left them all weekend to bond (after it not working last week) in workshop which is about 17-20 degrees give or take.

As soon as the boys get the first one into the female end and let some weight off the letter it snaps clean off the back.

Are we fitting it wrong? Not using enough glue? Not leaving for long enough? Anything else?

It is about 15ft off the ground so not the easiest fitting and thankfully for a mate. Always best to get these snags our the way when it’s friends (rolls eyes). And of course I need these to be safe, not so confident now.

    And therein lies your problem.

Tensol is an acrylic adhesive, you are bonding to an ACM, you will need a proper 2 pac bonding system for that – we use Penlock. And use big head offsets if your letters are that large.

    Hi gil,

Well that’s annoying but the conclusion we were coming to. Thanks amari. Wee phone call tomorrow I would say. Wish reps would just say sometimes “oh I dunno” instead of this will do.

Big head offsets, got the biggest size from europoint, is this what your meaning? Or is there a different shape?
Sorry complete novice on the one but needed to tackle it at some point.

There is a British stockist, I’m away for half term at the moment and can’t remember who they are.
