TECHNOLOGY IN ACTION AT SIGN UK

One of the biggest benefits of visiting a show like Sign UK is the unique opportunity to see a vast array of the latest technology first hand and working live. Visitors can see the latest equipment being put through its paces, compare a wide variety of machines and materials from several suppliers and discuss applications and business opportunities with experts on their stands.

Next year’s Sign UK, taking place from 1-3 May at the NEC in Birmingham, will make it even easier to see and compare what is on show. Responding to the industry research carried out after last year’s event organisers, Faversham House Group, has introduced a brand new live Sign Making demonstration trail. Visitors will be able to plan their route around the show in advance, attending a wide variety of demonstrations being staged on stands by exhibiting companies.

Graphtec GB, Identify Engraving, TheMagicTouch, Eurobond Adhesives, i-spi, Applelec Sign Components, William Smith, Grafityp and DTP Supplies are just some of the companies taking part in this new initiative. Much of the technology being demonstrated will be new to the market and will create opportunities for new applications and bigger profit margins for sign makers.

Novice sign makers, right through to seasoned professionals, will benefit from the live hints and tips on getting the most from vinyl cutters on the Graphtec stand. Visitors can also experience a full, step-by-step approach to LEDs in letters on the Applelec Sign stand, where the demo team will show how to estimate, wire and fit the LEDs. And, after the demo visitors can have a go themselves on working samples.

Anyone producing banners will be impressed with the speed and efficiency of the H901 portable, self-piercing Manual Eyeleting Machine from DTP Supplies that will be in action. On a similar vein Welwyn Tools’ will be giving a welding and banner finishing demonstration on their stand.

Those interested in printing onto garments will enjoy the demonstration staged by TheMagicTouch. The company is at the forefront of the dark fabric printing revolution and will be showing how to full-colour print and cut onto dark fabrics with no weeding required.

Eurobond Adhesives’ demonstration will show how easy Penloc toughened structural acrylic adhesive makes fabricating sign trays, built letter manufacture, metal fabrication, bonding panel locators and much more. This demo will illustrate how fast, clean and easy this is with no need for polishing, grinding, welding or reworking.

The new Sign Making Live demonstration trail is just one of the new features at next year’s Sign UK. In addition to the hugely popular Corel and Adobe workshops, in Digital Expo there will also be a second live demonstration trail dedicated to digital print, plus a programme of free digital print seminars. There will be a session dedicated to sign makers looking at getting into digital print, plus a presentation on how to get the most out of printers for those who already run digital machines.

More details about the live demonstration trails, and the seminar programmes, will be announced shortly, but for up-to-date information – and to register for free fast-track show tickets – Visit Sign UK.
