    Hi Bill,

I know this an old thread, but I wanted to ask you about a comment you made above.

Specifically … what was involved with the liquid laminating system you set up for your early Encad prints, and did it work well enough or would you not recommend going down that track.

I realise you have an Ezy Taper now, but until I can afford/justify one for myself, I am investigating any other alternative.

By the way, is that your old 2500CP being sold off at the moment? 🙂

    Regards, Roger

Hi Roger, I used liquid lamination for a couple of reasons. It’s cheap in terms of setup cost – spray gun and compressor. Also, liquid lamination is the only way I can think of for protecting and sealing canvas prints.

Certainly the most convenient method for laminating paper and vinyl is the Ezytaper and lamination film.

Yep, my old 2500CP just sold 😀

Hey Rich, I’m in Devonport. Surely not related though, I only moved here about 4 years ago and both my parents are Irish. Also, I only have one head – it’s butt ugly though 😀 😀 😀

    Hi Bill,

Hope you’re happy with the price. Printers always seem to go really slow until the final moments, but I guess there are lots of variables that affect the market. eg location being a big one.

Regarding the liquid lamination, for work other than canvas, did you find it ok, or was most of your work canvas?

I appreciate that it would be painful compared to the ezy taper, but I dont have a lot of spare money. I do already have a compressor and spray gun though.

Could you provide a few details as to what product you used and how you went about it please. Might talk me out of it, or may be enough incentive for me to give it a go. 😀

    Regards, Roger

    Hi Shane,

I have downloaded and read all the info I could find about their products, but was double checking that this is still the best stuff to try with, so thanks for that.

I haven’t done any canvas at all yet, but am keen to try.

I’m mostly printing on HP semi gloss photo paper so far, and also have some prints I want to do on backlit material.

    Regards, Roger.

Robert, I used Viponds Digiclear as Shane has pointed out. It’s a good product and works as well on vinyl and banner as it does on canvas. You need to be a little more careful using it on paper as it can wet it out pretty easily. that might not be such an issue with photo paper. In terms of UV protection my understanding is that a good liquid lamination is actually better than film. Either way it’s probably your best and easiest solution at the moment and I think you should give it a go.

Rich, I knew that banner was hiding something mate – now I know 😀 😀

Roger, I use this coating too. Brilliant stuff, probably better finish and longevity than viponds stuff, but needs to be cured with UV light for the best results, and is a bit more difficult to work with. It is applied by pad, not spray.

AGS.com.au are the importers as best I know.

    Well thanks Bill and Shane,

That’s really helpful info. Looks like I need to decide which brand to try, order some and have a go. 🙂

    Thanks again. Roger
