    hey all,

this is probalby more directed at the smaller outift but ‘m inerested to know anyways !

my public liability insurance cost me about £100 a few months ago, ‘ve got no problems with it, but after going o see them about seeing if i’m covered for a ‘helping hand’, i needed to upgrade to include temporary employees, which coversme to use up to 50 man days, ie 50 me for 1 day, or one man for 50 days, things banged on another £150, so a total premium of £250 a year,

i was wondering how this compared to your liability insurance, cover is £1m, accidental etc,

Hugh try a search on the boards as this has been talked about in the past in some detail, not sure how easy it will be to find with Robert spring cleaning but will be worth a look.
I would certainly check your policy to ensure you are covered for everything you do. As for price I can’t help much as I pay all my insurance together. It was arranged through a broker and cost me a lot more than £250 a year but as I say covers everything and Liability up to 10 million which is the minimum you require to work in shoping centres. As I do a bit of work in shoping centres I have had to take this cover, the centre managers will insist on seeing all relevant certificates and policys before allowing you to do any work.

thanks Martin, i have read the other threads in the past, but from memory they talked more about where to get it, rather than price, i was just being nosy and wondering what others like me, ie sole trader, are paying, and the cover they got for their money,

i’m expecting the new policy through now so i’ll read the small stuff as soon as !

Hugh, I think one of the posts was from someone who thought he was covered for work that it turned out he wasn’t, thats why I went and found a broker who could provide cover tailored to the sign industry. I will sort out what I am paying and let you know, like you I am a sole trader and work on my own most of the time.

Hugh, I,m small too(that was,not some kind of confession)And my liability is pretty much the same as yours with the need of “upgrading temporaraly” as and when. Price is roughly the same too give or take a couple of bucks
