Let’s stay together was covered by Tina Turner in the eighties, but Al Green had the original in the seventies…

I am singing it, Lynn…Just be glad you can’t hear it!

Just watched the John Peel video of “Ever Fallen in Love..” on channel 4. Not as good as the Buzzcocks original, but Roger Daltry and a host of others doing a good job on it.

Unfortunately, I don’t know what my current favourite love song of all time is actually called 😕

I’ve just returned from a family holiday in Spain and I heard a familiar song with the lyrics: “Hey now hey now – don’t dream it’s over – hey now hey now… etc.”

I think it’s a fabulous song but I’ve no Idea who sings it or what it’s actually called. I think it may have been recorded bty a number of different artists and Paul Young may have been one of them. But the version I heard on holiday was the best ever – and was a female singer.

If anyone knows the title of this song – please let me know.

On another note – unchained melody is a fantastic song too – this never fails to move me every time I hear it

    is it this one Phil?

There is freedom within, there is freedom without
Try to catch the deluge in a paper cup
There’s a battle ahead, many battles are lost
But you’ll never see the end of the road
    While you’re traveling with me

    Hey now, hey now
    Don’t dream it’s over
    Hey now, hey now
    When the world comes in
    They come, they come
To build a wall between us
    We know they won’t win

Now I’m towing my car, there’s a hole in the roof
My possessions are causing me suspicion but there’s no proof
In the paper today tales of war and of waste
But you turn right over to the T.V. page

Now I’m walking again to the beat of a drum
And I’m counting the steps to the door of your heart
Only shadows ahead barely clearing the roof
Get to know the feeling of liberation and relief

    Hey now, hey now
    Don’t dream it’s over
    Hey now, hey now
    When the world comes in
    They come, they come
To build a wall between us
    Don’t ever let them win

    Isn’t the Internet wonderful. 😀

Not only have I discovered the title of a beautiful song I heard on holiday – but with the aid of people here and after running some google searches – I have tracked down the actual recording that has been haunting me ever since I heard it a few days ago. The version I heard was by “Sixpence Non the richer” – I even found a sample here:
