Laser Printer opinions please – Epson & Samsung

hi

i have an epson 5800 b/w with postscript 3 which cost a fortune, but i have never had to replace toner or anything else for the past four years (touch wood) print quality is amazing. i have just bought an epson aculaser c900 which someone recommended the print quality….i’m not too impressed for colour print outs to show clients fab!! but for your own stuff 🙄 reason being the controls for printing on it are rotten just the basic print mode colour etc. i would spend an extra £200 for the new epson colour laser (cannot remember name) 😀

Have you thought about a Tally they are one of the worlds biggest suppliers to industry etc…….. their rental deal is excellen wish i had done it instead of buying as u get an upgraded version.Have a look on the Tally website

I have a xerox 6100, which is exactly the same as the samsung CLP 500
I am not very impressed with the quality of it, It hasn’t got a patch on the QMS Magicolour2 that it replaced. there is a lot of feathering around letters and its even worse on the edges. Funny thing is it prints a mean photo that is really superb quality for a laser.

I wouldn’t reccommend the Epson. I had a networked version in the office.

If you printed a band of grey across the width of the page it faded noticeably from one side to the other.

Consumables didn’t seem to last very long, and it broke beyond economical repair within about 16 months.

Oh and the M.D. of Epson UK didn’t manage to get the fading thing sorted either.

Can’t comment on the other printer.
