laser for dye sub work

Hi,

I use the OKI from Magictouch but the color quality with photos on mugs is not very good, plus you have to bake them in an oven after you have printed them. Logos and text is fine. I bake mine in a halogen oven they only cost £30.

I’ve used generic toners in my oki 5600 (tmt) for a year nearly. Have done mouse mats, a few tee’s and others odds with it. No problems at all.

I still use magic touch papers. I would love to use the genuine toners too but at £50+vat (£60@tmt) it’s too dear. Got a rainbow pack (generic) from Australia for £100 flat. Last setwas £108 from uk.

Chris, i just went over to a ricoh with Sublijet inks…. when I got the colour profiles sorted (info on sawgrass web site) it’s great… how about these flip flops I just printed……. It’s gel ink too so no dry up problems if you dont use it for a few weeks…..

I would have thought it more the profile was the cause for poor prints rather than the printer.

you are correct rubbish inks and profile, the printer has been fine and for what i do with mugs its fine, just trying to do more with out spending on inks and profiles.

I just bought a heat transfer system for t-shirts, mugs, coasters, and mouse mats, I’ve asked around if I can use laser printer with special papers for mugs and mouse mats but every one is telling me to invest in a dye printer, from what I have read in this thread Chris wool is using something similar to our set up what kind of paper are you using for your laser printer since merlin have different once help would be appreciated since we are new in this field

For mugs you need to be using sublimation inks as laser ones look crap and scratch off.
