    Hi All,
Had an unusual request from a customer & I’ve drawn a bit of a blank so far with the old Google machine!
They are looking to get a couple of words of text & a photo, etched onto small pebbles!! Around 150 possibly, depending on cost.
It’s a memorial type gift to be given out to friends & relatives of the deceased.
I have found places that can do it onto slate but this is not what the customer wants, they are adamant it has to be stone pebbles as the deceased worked with stone.
I have found a place in the USA that etches onto pebbles but it’s only really text & very basic simple silhouette type shapes & not a photo like can be done on slate, also had no response from them & would prefer something a bit more local if poss.
Here’s a couple of pics of the type of thing, the type of image that’s on the slate wants to be on the pebble:

I am able to produce this type of work.

What size pebbles, how soon do you want them?

    Do they want colour filled?

Is there different wording on each pebble?

Wow! Super speedy response thanks Steff.

    Size somewhere around 70-80mm x 50-60mm
Same wording & image on each, just "In Loving Memory" & the image of the deceased (which I have in greyscale)
I wasn’t sure if colour was possible. I presume you just mean for the text & not the image? It wasn’t specified other than it should contrast to the colour of the stone.
The issue seems to be getting a photo image on the pebbles. If size is an issue they are happy to have the image on one side of the pebble & the text on the other.
They would like them ideally by the 6th April for the memorial but are ok if it has to be after then.

Hmm, that’s odd, it was sent via this site by Chris, I received a copy myself. Would it work if I try to PM you?

Hi "Steff", I’m guessing maybe this is actually something that you can’t produce??

ive done a lot of work like this in the past with a previous job id say it would be extremely difficult to clearly etch a pebble unless it was perfectly flat and dark in colour not sure a rotary tool in the laser would work for this but i have used some vinyl that can be laser etched then applied to a stone etc then sandblasted then spray painted ive had a go myself in the past but found it to be very touch and go weather it worked or not its not impossible just very labour intensive and alot of stages to the job . memorial masons might be able to do this

Thanks David, yes I think sourcing consistently flat pebbles of similar shape, size & colour is probably the biggest issue! & then trial & error with the laser settings.
Unfortunately the actual deadline for the memorial service my customer wanted them for has passed now, although she did say she would still like to get them if it was found to.be possible so I will continue to search for someone that can do them. Memorial masons may be worth a try.
