  • Larger sized aluminium composite boards/panels

Posted by Peter Johnson on August 20, 2018 at 6:32 pm

    Hi all.

Was just wondering if anyone knows of any suppliers of aluminium composite boards/panels larger than 4080mm in length?

    Thanks in advance,

    Pete J.

we have been using a lot of 4m x 2m sheets of composite, thats hard enough to handle.
Why would you require such large sections in one piece?
Have you considered how you intend transporting the sheets this size and handling to install?

    Hi Andrew, thanks for that.

Hi Rob. Somebody wanted me to quote for a job that required a sign at just a little over 9m wide, but they only wanted the sign in 2 parts.

I have worked with 3m boards and yes, that was a little awkward on my own, but manageable. But 5m? No way. I just wanted to know if there was a UK supplier available just in case, for whatever reason, I might need something like this. Point of fact, I was asked a few weeks ago if I could possibly fabricate a 4m tall x 6m wide full colour backdrop for a video filming background, but as it sounded like a vague request, I didn’t pursue it and didn’t know where to source larger substrate.
As I was asked a second time for something larger than standard, I thought I’d actually see if I could find a supplier.

But I totally get your point. My van could never cope with transporting something that size. But if the customer was willing to pay, I’m sure I could figure something out.

When working with or being asked to quote for work in a large format "single sheet" or "no joins" finish, you should really consider a tensioning frame. I have done a fair bit with these over the years… both tension frames and flexi-face systems.Does Not have to be a full blown flexi-face system.
you can get tension systems that will take banner and you simple chap/hammer a bead into place and it pulls flat large single piece banners.

the following is good for tension frame. you simple screw to the surface, overlay the banner and chap in the face clip with a hammer.
