  • Large sign for scaffold poles – suggestions please?

Posted by Peter Munday on June 15, 2006 at 12:28 pm

I have been asked to produce an exterior sign to last up to six months and it is 30’x4′ and to be fixed to scaffold poles. It has text and digital print on it.
This is not something I normally get involved with, so I’m a little stuck as where to start, i.e. substrates and fixing.
Can anyone give me suggestions on how to complete this job.

I’d go with a banner – easy to print, lots of different types to cope with wind etc

for scaffold I would agree with Glen a banner, you can have them made with hems & pockets that will fit the poles

Peter, if it’s going onto scaffolding, have a look at mesh banners, ideal in those situations.

personally ide have gonethe banner route… however… what abouta banner in a tensioning frame? this will just look like a sign but cheaper and safer for the location.

Peter if that is going to be a diabond ,fomex or aluminium tray it’s not going to be one piece so I guess figuring out how to fix it is the tricky bit !! unless you’ve said wrong measurement it’s over 9 mtrs. long 🙄

Instead of calling it a banner, describe it as "flexi face scaffolding sign" – they’ll probably go for it then 😉

    your probably right phil, :lol1:
i was actually going to suggest a non illuminated flexface sign as they come with a lock together sturdy frame that could be fixed to the scaffold.
i have one to fit next week, but not to scaffold. 20’x10′

Maybe their perception of a banner is different to ours. Lots of my clients don’t realise what is possible on a banner, in vinyl alone let alone using digital prints, a few seem to think a banner is ‘school fete this sat’ type thing without realising the potential.
