    Hi Guys,

Just wondering what experiences you have had when purchasing or leasing your machines, I read a thread from Karen about her experiences with Spandex and although I am aware that generally only bad experiences get discussed I was hoping to get your opinion on the top resellers.

I am looking at getting a valuejet 1604 from BP Lightbrigade and would like to know if anyone has dealt with them? I currently have a mutoh sc650 plotter and know that I will also need to upgrade my plotter to run and print and cut programme they are able to offer a full package.

I am also interested in the warranty issue of using alterative materials (from what i’ve read to appears that you are expected to purchase all roll materials and inks for you original supplier or you’re warranty becomes void is this the case?

Also interested in your thoughts of the Mutoh Printers versus Rolands?

You will have to buy your inks from an authorised distributor, but not
necessarily who you bought the printer from. Roll media can be bought
from any supplier, depending on your preference. You may find that whoever
you buy the printer from is more likely to offer profiles for your particular
    printer / RIP combination.

We are currently looking at a Mutoh Blizzard – has anyone had any
experience with this machine? Or a Spitfire Extreme.

    Cheers,
    Jamie.

    Hi Jamie

We have a three month old Mutoh Blizzard, sitting next to a three year old Roland Soljet.

Even though it is faster, print or build quality is not as good.

It has a sensor for everything, and in three months nearly all of these sensors have gone wrong at some point stopping us from printing.

Ink sensor (sim card) Replaced – No Printing can be done
Waste Ink tank sensor faulty – No Printing can be done
Cover Sensor Faulty – No Printing can be done
Capping station sensor faulty – again no printing can be done

They always seem to happen on Friday afternoon. I have spoke to another owner of this machine who cannot fault it, I might have been unlucky and bought the one faulty machine.

If I had the choice again I would stick to Roland, even though slower quality and build quality is still excellent.

    Cheers Stephen

Thanks for the reply. It looks like we may have to get one of these to
secure a contract, but this doesn’t bode well. It wouldn’t have been my
first choice of machine, but our hands are tied. Could be some fireworks
    if it doesn’t work properly….

    Cheers,
    Jamie.

I wouldn’t worry, I have the smaller 1204 valuejet printer. I even purchased it from Spandex – can’t really fault the machine or service.

Yes there are occasional problems, but I have had the machine a year now and find the print quality excellent.

we have a roland sc540 but is long in the tooth and a UV flatbed printer that has to go – way to much trouble

    Hi Tim,

We didn’t get the Blizzard in the end – the contract is on hold due to the
credit crunch, so we ordered a JV33 instead for our regular work. I seem
to remember that once Stephen got over the sensor problems, he was
happier with the blizzard – perhaps he will see this thread and reply.

    Cheers,
    Jamie.
