    Hello All ,

    Hope all is well.

I would like to hear your feed back on dry mounting digital prints to substrates like al comp using a laminator or a manual Applicator / mounting machine .

I have a easy mount laminator which i only use for lamination , i want to improve production by using an alternative method like a Manual mounting machine so i dont have to keep resetting up the laminator. This is a pain and takes time .

I have heard and read about the ezy taper but a little out of my budget .There seems to be alot of mixed feelings on this machine .

I was considering 1-3-1.6m manual mounter .Not sure how much trouble they are.
Just looks like a laminator without a motor , manual adjusters for the roll tension and a hand crank to roll the media /substrate through .

Trying to get off the wet /dry hand applications and focus on more streamlined dry applications via a mounter of some sort .
Are the manual mounting machines reliable and can they provide a fairly good bubble free application to substrates like aluminium composite panel ?

Would really like your valuable feed back & your experiences on the above so i can then try and make a educated decision.

    Appreciate your feedback ,

    Cheers,
    PJ

I bought one of the Foreign build ones from a well know auction site about 8-10 months ago to bridge the gap until I could afford and needed a full on laminator. Having used it for 6 months not only for laminating but for putting down vinyl on Signs, foamex and dibond I couldn’t wait to get a proper Laminator and did so about 2 months ago. Thats when I experienced the same thing as you, takes to much time to strip down and put back just for the odd board so I switched back to my manual for everything buy laminating. Its very basic, very little to go wrong and probably about the best investment I made when starting out. There is a thread on here discussing versions and thats what led me to buy the one i did. Its not 100% you get the odd bubble occasionally but its very solid and reelable and I would be totally lost without it.

When you look at the costs between the two its worth buying just to keep as a spare.

    Hello Kevin,

Thanks for taking the time to read my post and sharing your valuable experience on this topic. A little abit surprised with 245 views and only one response .Maybe its just not a popular topic.

I toally aggree with your comments and hope in the near future i can justify the cost to purchase one knowing the long term benefits.

If you still know of the post that compared and discussed mounting machines any link would be great .

    Thanks again.

    Cheers ,
    PJ
