• Laminator Suggestions

Posted by Chris Stansfield on November 1, 2006 at 10:13 am

    Hi everybody,

am looking at getting some form of laminator to mount prints to panels flood coat boards and also laminate prints, but a few questions answered from more knowledgable people may be useful.

Was thinking about a 54" cold laminator, as the ezy taper seems a little overpriced for a manual laminator.

Is a heated roller needed to laminate printed graphics on vinyl, either standard vinyl or for wraps?

Is the Ezy-taper any good for laminating prints or just useful for applying to panels?

any help or suggestions as to which type to go for would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi Chris,

i`ve yet to hear any really bad reports on the Ezy taper. It seems to be a machine that requires a bit of training and experience to get flawless results. But in saying that, it seems to be the way for all laminators.

A fair few on here have them, hopefully they`ll be able to elaborate.

    Hi Chris,

I just got an ezytaper and so far have used it to laminate digital prints, apply application tape to my cut vinyl, and put cut vinyl and digital print onto boards.

I nearly bought a "normal" laminator, which was £1500 for a 30" one, but I’m glad I have the ezytaper. I thought it seemed a lot for a manual laminator but it does a lot more than just a normal laminator, and Peter from ezytaper is really helpful.

I know they are getting some dvds done soon as they are giving them free with a sign magazine, and Peter tells me this will be a thorough instructional video for the ezytaper.

It does take a little bit of practising but not a lot.

If you’re near Bristol and want to see it working you can pop into my shop anytime- and that goes for anyone else who wants to see one working before taking the plunge!

    Cheers
    Joe

Hey Chris, I have one too, I think I was the first here actually. Joe is pretty much spot on with his comments.

Take him up on his offer, because ‘seeing is believing’ 😉

    Cheers

so everyone is on the ezy-taper side of the fence then? 😀

and the extra you pay for heated rollers isnt required for everyday laminating i assume?

and thanks for the offer, not really that close for me, but you never know where the job takes you do ya

Search Rodney Gold`s comments on cold laminating.

He explains why it should be cold.

His surname is actually quite apt when it comes to advice.
