i have a diage solo laminator and it has 2 rubber like rollers. this morning i’ve been mounting some vinyl onto coro and i noticed that at the Hinge i’m getting a slight faded mark. the rubber rollers are a plum colour and its a faded plum colour so i know its definitely the rollers! right pain in the behind!!!
can anyone recommend what i can use to clean them? would isopro alcohol be ok? the prints are not laminated otherwise i would just wipe over the laminate, but as its directly on the print then obviously i can’t use chemicals to try and get rid of the mark. i did try i slightly damp cloth but you can still see the mark. haven’t had this problem before so not sure why now! the prints are dry by the way, have been out gasing for nearly 24 hrs.

    Evening mate,

I just use IPA on a microfiber cloth – always seems to get the gunk off anyway! Thats on a Seal machine – maybe do a test on one of the far ends of the roller to make sure its ok.

cheers andy, i did use a little ipa on a cloth on one of the ends that had some black marks on it…looked alittle like oil or something, but i want to wipe down the whole roller top and bottom and its a rubbery type roller so don;t want to create any problems if i use the wrong thing. not sure if the rubber would hold anything i use then transfer it to a print if you see what i mean? maybe soap and water? just a bugger that it was leaving these faint marks on the prints!!

Like I say I use IPA on ours without any issues. I tend to do it when the rollers are cooling down to make sure the alcohol evaporates, as I say not had a problem yet… its what our laminator tech guy recommends

cheers andy, will give that a go then….hopefully no more marks on the prints after that! it was a long faded line…looked alittle like someone had used a knackers felt tip that had no ink in it any more, so you had a faint mark if you see what i mean!?!??
