• lamination questions?

the views on the various printers thread is confusing me……..

do you need to laminate or spray lacquer solvent prints to use them on vehicles and vehicle wraps………can you laminate a digital print after it has been applied to the vehicle?

do most people that buy a solvent printer buy a laminator and what % of their prints require lamination…….new to this side of things…

I know a lot of questions?

some people seem to survive without a laminator? if you are comfortable applying large areas of flat vinyl can you laminate manually?

or will I just wait until Sign UK……

    Cheers

    Andrew 😀 (?)

Yes , you need to protect the vehicle print against over zealous washing , petrol or other solvent attack , wind and physical abraision and UV. cold laminate ids the best way to do this , liquid lams have problems.
Not everyone buys a laminator , it depends on where the thrust of your market is , some folk just print poseters or banners which are short term things. If you want to offer durability under harsh conditions , then you lam. Its almost impossible for any meaningful interpretation of a % figure . The survival without the lam question is also dependant on the applications you have. I wouldnt like to hand lam , lets say a 1m x 3m print.
