They spoke about this on the wrapping course & the general opinion was that if you were looking for a straight edge then wrapcut was a good product but for curves knifeless tape did a better job.
I bought some wrapcut & it’s been good for the work I have done.

Reason why some perform better than others for certain jobs is to do with where the cord comes out of the tape. Wrapcut it comes out from the edge of the tape but the knifeless tape comes from the centre.

I felt the same the first time I used it re the Jagged edge. It’s actually the adhesive which has been pulled up along the edge of the new cut. If you apply a little heat straight after you pull through the tread the heat makes that adhesive retreat back under the vinyl and leaves a much neater edge. Also there are different sizes of thread etc to get different levels of finish.
I used some yesterday while applying yellow to my black car and that colour contrast allowed me to really study how the jagged edges retreat. A little heat works a treat :lol1:

There’s a video on YouTube by 3M on the correct use of knife less tape as so many people have been complaining about the finish.

I was disappointed by the results initially but after a few goes and the right technique it improves massively!

Just search for 3M knifeless tape on YouTube, cookies tips.

I tried Wrapcut and I was disappointed with the edge – makes a good guide if you use a knife though:) Wrapcut is alot cheaper and I have seen similar products at £20 – £30 at that price I would want my money back. Perhaps thats a new product – put a much thicker filament in it and use as a guide to run you knife against

used knifeless tape for a while and just recently i thought to try wrapcut out, wrapcut wasnt for more, just didnt leave a nicer edge compared to the knifeless tape, will be going back to knifeless tape

I use knifeless and keep the 6mm and 3mm. I find with a little practice it’s really good stuff. Make sure you stick it down well, and as Gill says give the vinyl you are cutting a little heat and make sure it too is well adhered or you will get that jagged edge. We use it a lot now and it allows us to do things we would not have done before with a knife. Makes flooding van panels a breeze too. When the knifeless starts at the edge of a panel I make a small cut to start it off.

Like Alex says, look at Cookie’s video on YouTube and all will be revealed!
