Hi I’m Anne from New Zealand. My mother and I are coming to England for 4 weeks holiday (dates yet to be confirmed) in June/July 2011. I’m keen to attend a Letterheads meet if there’s one in England.

Can anyone let me know? Please 🙂

PS: Alternately I would love to just come and play with someone who does traditional sign work…..brush….gold, anything old school!! I’m an absolute sponge for the traditional work. Where I’m employed we’re now 90% vinyl and I’m desperately teaching myself the traditional skills. I’m happy just to watch, listen and soak in information.

    Anne!
    Hey girlfriend hello there.
The only meet I know of is July 2012 in Ireland but there may be others.
Quite a few traditional painters on here, you’ll fit in just fine.
    Take care.
    Love….Jill

How do I find out the dates for the Ireland meet? Do you know who the hosts are? I was born in england and have family all over the place. Some are most definitely in Ireland as my Grandfather came from there.

I’ll sort out a photo. As a brief intro…I’m 38, English born and was 20 months old when my parents came to NZ. I visited England briefly when I was 6 but have only snapshot memories….so I call myself a New Zealander (Kiwi). I’ve been working in the sign industry since I was 17…mostly vinyl sadly. 8 years ago I went to my first Letterheads meet and met Jon Jordan from Australia (some of you may have met him…he was called the Goldfather and went to quite a few European meets). Since then I’ve been doing my very best to learn how to use a brush etc. My biggest love is gold leaf work…especially water gilding.

I’m looking forward to hearing more from UK Signwriters 🙂

If you get a chance to meet with Dave Smith, take it.

The guy does some awesome stuff.

Take a look at the LHF website, he designed that, his computer skills are awesome too.

    Keep slinging the paint!

Ah Matty, you’re a gem to be sure, to be sure.

Have just been to a mini meet in Oamaru (South of Christchurch in New Zealand). They had the most fantastic Steampunk expo going on. I told all in attendance about Ireland 2012 and I may have now upped the count to two kiwis and one aussie saving up to attend the meet in Belfast. Mum has kindly agreed that we’ll wait until 2012 so this is your early warning that the southern hemisphere will be on its way!!!!

Anyone know what the dates for the meet will be?

Thankyou for the link. I have seen Daves website and of course have drooled all over LHF…I love the Carinna font. Have sent Dave an email after finding his details to let him know that there’s now more than just me wanting to come to the Ireland meet. 18 months is simply going to fly by. Can’t wait to meet all you guys!!

What a superb link…it sounds so exciting. A meet in a museum and trips around Ireland. WOW!!! My family heritage is all Irish. My maiden name is Swords which is a town in Ireland. Not sure exactly where it is…I fail at geography horribly. Hopefully its near to Belfast, I may get a chance to see it

Anne apparently Swords is in or near Dublin 😀

Swords is outside Dublin on the way to Belfast Ann but quite a bit away…(although you may not think 2 hours driving is that far)

The big red dot showing the Nursing Home is co-incidental! 😀
Never heard anybody with the second name Swords….but there are plenty of McDonalds where I come from.

You going to James’ meet then Harry?
Rob, Dave thinks this site is UKSignBroads.
    PS
I see a Sutton on there, that was Grandma Welsh’s maiden name.
Nobody knows where the hell they came from though.

Certainly am Jill….never been to a Letterhead gig. Looking forward to it, great venue in a great city (or near it anyway).

My Uncle lives in Sutton…only Suttons I know off are the Seed people.

Darn it, I knew Swords would be too far away ( and 2 hours isn’t a long drive) but I will be from the other side of the planet!! Only got 4 weeks to pack a whole heap into and Mum wants me to see all of her favorite places in England.

I’m now divorced but kept my married name as no one in NZ can pronounce or spell Swords! It’s fun being a McDonald, I get given heaps about my farm EIEIO

I’ve been in touch with Dave Smith via email…thanks to everyone that’s posted links. I’ve been drooling all over Daves website and I checked out the info on the meet. I’m going to try and get hold of the host to nail down some dates etc.

I don’t know if any of you are members on other sites but I’m on an American one too and we’re trying to organise more people to come to Belfast. So far I have one Australian definite (Paul Jordan) and I’m trying to get some more kiwis.

Must go do some work now….ciao for now
