• Keyboard Problems

I am having a problem with the keyboard on my laptop. All keys to the right of the keys “U” “J” & “M” cause numbers instead of letters to appear on screen. This is only happening with the computers “built in” keyboard. However I can still use an external USB keyboard which works fine. In fact I have only just dicovered this problem as I normaly use an external keyboard plugged into a USB port anyway, so I an not sure when this problem first arose though is must be fairly recent.

Does anyone have any idea what is wrong. At first I thought it must be a virus but now I’m not so sure and I am beggining to think it may be a hardware problem.

    Any suggestions?

Sounds like you’ve hit the ‘numlock’ button. If its toggled the keys to the right become a number pad.

Look for a key, usually written in a different colour called numlock, press it and then hit the offending keys again… should be sorted.

Thanks Jason. You were spot on. I’ve pressed numlock and the problems is cured.

I feel like a proper numbskull though 😳
