We’ve only got the first gen evolution cutter, but have played with the 3. Lift and hover, as well as one sided control is enough to make me really want one.
Just seen that they have a new rocker tool head suitable for cutting ACM. Not a heavy duty option, but might be useful in a bind, and on the product video, it shows a pretty clean result
I’m a fan of Keencut products, and particularly their customer service (and hey, they manufacture in the UK!)

+1 for Keencut products
Very well engineered and durable. There are other manufacturers making similar products for almost all models in the Keencut range but anything you initially save is a false economy – stick with Keencut.

We have one. My fingers wish I bought it years ago with the amount of 5mm foamex we go through.

Same here got the EVO II, after quite a nasty cut using a stanley, we got the EVO… it’s reduce the number of plasters required each week for sure!

We have an Evolution 2. Wouldn’t be without one, as it’s used every day.

Good to know – can you tell me, Im getting the 2100mm size, will I be ok doing roller banners on it, I normally cut them to 2170mm but obviously I only have 2100 to play with.

If you’re using it on your own bench, without the mounting plates, you’ll be OK. If using the mounting plates, or one of Keencut’s own big benches, I’m not sure if it will fit between the plates.

Check with keencut, but one thing to consider is the blade is in the middle of holder, so you don’t get the full width of that the cutter travels on the rail.
I’m out the office tomorrow, and can’t remember what size we have (the bench is 3m wide), I’m fairly sure the rule starts where the stop is, so the cutting width should be as advertised, but the overall size of the cutter be bigger (if that makes sense)

I was just thinking if the cutter is loose on top of an existing bench, it could be moved along to get a bigger cut, but you are correct, the bar is larger than the cut length.

If you get the freehand, then you loose the lift and hover mechanism, which is a huge part of the productivity, and makes cutting less effort. Looks like the benchtop and smartfold cutting bars are permanently wedded to the lift mechanism, so no sliding it along the material width.
Our 160cm only has 150cm of actual cutting width.

If you’ve space I’d recommend going for one that will take a 8ft sheet. Makes cutting correx, foamex, etc a breeze. Also very useful for scoring DiBond before snapping. Great machines although their steeltrak is useless for v-grooving boards as advertised even with the upgrade fitted 🙁
