Can anyone recommend an engineer to fix my JV33 – or possibly some advice on what the problem might be?

Its completely stopped printing yellow. on the test print there is no yellow whatsoever.

was working fine last week until it run out of a yellow cartridge, it didn’t automatically switch to the other on it just stopped printing yellow! the other cart lit up to suggest it was being used but it wasn’t. I;ve put a new cart in this morning and still nothing. I’ve done a few cleans and still nothing. Its only ever had original inks in it and it gets cleaned pretty much everytime its used

    thanks

Perhaps an airlock or air bubble that needs removed with a syringe?

thanks for the reply. I thought air lock possibly. I’ve took some covers off and traced where the pipes go and I can’t see any air at all. I’ve took the cover off the head and the dampers are all full and all look the same as the other colours but still no yellow whatsoever – I’ve rung cetech engineer to arrange a visit but its just frustrating I can’t do any work!

    Hi Stuart.

Have you done a ‘fillup ink’ on the printer? (make sure you empty the waste tank first). It could well be that air is getting in from somewhere and causing it to not pull through properly. First thing to check is that there is yellow in the cap. That will prove that there is ink getting through the head in the first place, I sometimes put a bit of masking tape over the cap and let the head return to it’s capping position and then see what coloured strips are left on the tape when you move the head back out again (do it VERY carefully and at your own risk!!) If you get as much yellow on the tape as you do the other colours then it may well be an electrical fault, but I doubt it. It’s more likely to be a valve or simple fillup from what you’ve explained.

Hi Stafford. Thanks for the reply

I’ve just done a fill up ink and still nothing. One thing I did remember was a few times lately when I’ve switched the machine on its told me to do a test draw – I don’t know if thats related to the yellow problem?

    thanks

The only time I’ve seen a 33 say that is after a head replacement or calibration so although I don’t know why it would be saying that at this stage, I don’t think it’s relevant to the fault you’re experiencing. Have you tried the trick with the masking tape yet?

Have you had any work done on it lately, or has it done any other weird messages at all? Maybe even asked what ink type you’re using?

no theres been no work done on it & Its only ever had genuine inks in it. I’ve not tried the tape trick yet as I’ve got an engineer coming in the morning now so thought it best just to leave it!

    Thanks for your help

All sorted now thanks to Colin at Cetech. Don’t know exactly what was up. He just messed about around the head area and did various cleans and procedures and all was fixed. It wasn’t a simple air lock or anything like that as I was with him when he checked all that type of things

    working fine now
