    Hi from Johnalphasign

    Just joined the site 😀
Its great to be able to pool together and swap ideas and tips
Its seems for the most of us we have had to learn things as we go along.

About three years ago I made the transition from traditional signwriting to vinyl. Of course you don’t receive training either in computer software or in preparation of vinyl itself.

Its a question of figuring it out yourself! Mind you its been a great learning curve.

The confidence is certainly growing although there are quite a few areas of apprehension such as large digital vehicle graphics and one way glass film.

If anyone has tips and recommendations on these it would be great to hear from you.

Still enjoy traditional signwriting whenever the customer absolutely insists

    regards

    John

    Welcome John,

I think the internet has made the world a much smaller place, and brought so many great groups of people together. I am really happy with the signpeople I have got to know in the US since the mid-nineties, and now finding people from both traditional, and computer backgrounds in the UK, this is a site that is growing and has a great bunch of folks participating.

    welcome John – welcome indeed…

if there’s one thing this site has plenty of – it’s folks of different disciplines! Vinyl, digital, airbrush, brush, screen, engraving, gilding – you name it, we have it here at UKSG!

…though many of us create signs in only one or two formats, we’re always very interested to read and learn about all aspects of signmaking, and it doesn’t matter how long the person making the post has been in the trade either…young or old, novice or expert – all are equally welcome and invited to join in.

    Thanks for joining in…enjoy! 😉

    more soon

Hi John and welcome to the UKSG, as Mike says there are all levels of signmakers here both young and old and a lot of areas of expertese are covered by some of the more experienced folk. If you would like to know about a particular aspect of the trade try doing a search, there are already a lot of posts covering all sorts of topics and if you still cant find what you want just ask.
