Having recently discussed the latest computerss and software it would be interesting to know how many people out there are getting by on really old equipment- I do know someone who has a Graphix 4b still in use and I reckon our Gerber gs 760 plotter is pushing 15 years old

    I have a 4B and a 4E, which is running right now!
    They are old reliable dinosaurs.
I design in GA or Corel tho.
Then again I also paint, just call me old-fashioned.

I update my computers every year, but my Roland 1000mm Plotter is about 8 years old now, and has only cost me $100 for new rollers in that time. I don’t see the need to upgrade this unit at all, but because it is required to operate 8 hours a day, 6 days a week, the minute it starts becoming unreliable I will. Having said that, the thing is bullet proof, so I don’t think that will happen anytime soon.

we have embosstrak, edge 1, odyseeye and dimension 200 all running on GA with Corel as design on fairly fresh computers. We are planning to ‘freshen’ the systems very soon as we have improved print side already.

Lots of factors like modern methods, wear and tear and staff training come into these.
