Anyone one got any ideas where to look for Public liability and equipment insurance – I refuse to pay a increase of almost 25% even though I have never been anywhere near a claim……. maybe that’s what I’m doing wrong ??
    Thanks in Advance

We just got a quote through FSB.
seemed reasonable, and compared to others offered better and more comprehensive cover,
the next best was through the farmers union.

NFU is who I’m with. They were reasonable as you say Peter.

Do you work from Home, I halved my insurance when the broker changed me to an AXA product for those self employed and working mainly from home.

I’m a member of the FSB and asked for a quote out of interest, Like peter has said it was reasonable compared with others, I will certainly be getting a quote from them when it needs renewing. On that subject make sure you tell whoever you ask to quote exactly what you do and make sure the policy covers you for everything you do. I remember reading a post on these boards where someone had gone to make a claim and found out his policy didnt cover him even though it was a standard job for a signshop.

As with Alan, we are on AXA’s work from policy, very good and very helpful.

I am just renewing and have been getting some quotes.

Last year I paid Norwich Union £12,500. This year they gave me a quote for £10,500 but I told them to go away and work it out again as AXA had quoted me £7,500.

Despite having the information for a month the NIG, through the Federation of Small Business, haven’t some back with a price. They have two days left, but I get the impression that they aren’t bothered about my business.

My own experience, and that of other people that I have spoken to recently, is that insurance rates are coming down so, as always, the advice is to shop around and negotiate hard.
