  • joiner for Dibond panels in panatrim frame?

Posted by John Dorling on June 9, 2011 at 2:18 pm

    Hi

I am doing a supply only job of two dibond panels which will be a replacement for an existing sign in the customer’s panatrim frame. Is there a fixing I can put on the back of the two boards which will stop a gap opening up between the boards, and is also easy for the customer to fit?

    Thanks

    John

Can’t remember who supplies them John but you can get panel locks for joining panels together. Meant for acrylic lightbox panels and that sort of thing but work for other things. Try universal and also Jag as I am sure they had something.

I normally use 3 strips of off cut board double sided taped to the back of the panels. 2 strips on one panel top and bottom and the 3rd strip on the other panel in the centre if you understand what I mean.

would have said SMP too mate…
Personally, we put out a ton of panatrim signs each month.
i build them completely in-house and cannot be doing with faffing about with clever hidden joins. tongue and groove type joins, foam stick, clips, spring tensioned ends and more… they all work to an extent, but in bad weather and over time they open, look slack and more. i now have a hidden joining strip down the back. but i put a minimum of 4 rivets "thru the face" 2 tight to top of frame 1 inch either side of join, and 2 tight to bottom of frame, 1 inch either side of join.
from the ground the bottom ones are pretty much invisible, were as the top too can be seen but very neat and tidy. i have never had a single complaint about their presnece.
depending on the depth of the panel there maybe another 2 midway also.
