Lorraine, Ashby do the colour topped screws too… but i do prefer the ones JAG are doing because they are flatter. however, the JAG ones are not "full thread" and i think that’s pretty important.

I dont like ashby screws, they have very soft heads, and quite often strip (The heads) if any torque is required to drive them (yes I do use the correct pozidrive bit)
I see now they do a socket head though, so that should be better

I did find that too peter… i don’t often use the screws but i do use the coloured rivets.

colour rivetts, what a great idea. Nothing like that here.

With the screws, we just poke them into some styrofoam then paint the heads at the same time as we paint the boards.

Do the colours match the dibond colours for instance? That would be a great idea.

Well I have had a chance now to have a good read through and I have to agree with Brians original post that this is a very interesting catalogue packed full of interesting tools and ideas for the sign maker. Lots of items I had never thought of too giving plenty of food for thought.

I’ll leave it lying about for Alison to see in case she’s struggling to find something to buy me for my birthday.

To be fair to Faversham I don’t know that they do pass on/sell the information…but a number of trade shows that we attend allow the exhibitors to buy the visitor lists (when you fill out an application for tickets there is usually a tick box where the organiser asks your permission for them to pass on your details to companies associated or approved by the organisers)

I got mine last week. Although I have not gone through it properly (haven’t had a lunch break yet in the last two weeks) there does seem to be some very interesting things on offer. I do like the look of the ‘background textures ‘CD. But at £200 I wont be buying one. I am in the middle of designing and wrapping my van and I bought a superb image for £7 from Fotolia. I printed the first full sized panels today and the quality is excellent.

Some interesting stuff in the catalogue.

On a side note, I am seriously considering not registering for Sign UK next year. The amount of mail, email and PHONE CALLS I have had since registering is bordering on harassment! I would say it is a fair bet that they are passing on details to all exhibitors. Naughty.

I said this last year, and I’ll say it again……

Don’t register in your own name!

Register on the day with the details of somebody you don’t like. Then they get all the aggro.

Nah. It goes to a motor trader mate of mine.

The trouble is I think he does the same to me. 🙁

I’m giving my mum’s details next year. Any attempt at a conversation with her should scare off even the most determined telesales operative.
At next year’s show I need you all to call me Eileen.

the first time i went to Sign UK, about 6 years ago,
    I filled in my details,

    James Bond 007 Sign’s ( Job title) S Agent.

I walked about all day , different stands looking to scan my badge and take my details, yet no one caught on, every time i left a stand and someone said ," I hope to talk to u soon James", I was in stitches.

I even had one guy that said i had a very appropriately named Company :lol1:

Even better my address was one of my local competiors, I wonder did he get a Jag Magazine :lol1:
