Its been a long time, folks. Update.
Well, she still has “britty” on her bed. She tried a few posts on the Letterheads but couldn’t continue as the computer screen mitigates debilitating migraines.
We finally, after 14 years, got a true diagnosis of Rosemary’s problem. Its called Maxillofacial Osteonecrosis. Besides the damage to the trigeminal nerve, the bone itself sustained a trauma and began duing from the inside out. The marrow goes first, then the bone itself.
The surgery is rather invasive, requiring separating cheek from the gums, scraping the marrow and damaged bone away, removing bone from her hip to make the graft and manufacturing a plastic prosthesis to support the jaw during the healing process.
There are only 9 Doctors in the US who do this procedure. The waiting lists are long. We did send her to Alsace to await an appointment in Bern for this procedure and had a lot of our hopes hinging on that happening. Alas, the Swiss clinic determined she’s a borderline hemophiliac and declined to do the procedure, so we brought her home.
Rosemary is now on a 10 month waiting list for the clinic in West Virginia.
I’ve not been on the net much at all either. Lyn and I are dealing with these medical crisis’ and working, leaving time for little else.
She’s not forgotten you folks. I have kept her from the computer as the resultant migraines from looking at the screen and typing can last for days or even weeks.
She’ll be back one day. We miss her in the studio too. Take care, you guys. I’ll let you know if anything changes for the positive.Pierre
