    Hi Gary,
Run your finger nail over the print if you can feel it raised slightly then it is probably screen printed if it is smooth then it could be dye sub.

as its a chemical mixing ratio system i would be worried about the ink reacting or coming off. neat thinners and all that.

i have seen some that are etched before being coloured.

I really wonder why I get involved in things like this. Its for a friend and I hate to say no can do.

Somethings are more trouble than they are worth though.

Looks to me like its double anodised whereby you have the aluminium anodise and left open, then screentprint with a dye, and then seal the aluminium in a salt bath. The print is then sealed in the ally.

Could be Metalphoto Anodised Aluminium products. (From their website) ….combine unusual durability with a long-lasting quality appearance. Metalphoto products function perfectly for years, maintaining their original good looks under a broad variety of challenging environments, including high temperatures, long term outdoor exposure, abrasion, salt spray and most chemicals.

Metalphoto products get there durability from the fact its unique process imbeds the image within a sapphire hard Anodised Layer.

Might be someone in the UK does it?

A laser engraver would do it too

    Thanks Shane
All I know is that it used to be a Dutch company who supplied them who have since gone out of business. They are a giveaway item so the cost cannot go too high. I`m still waiting to find out exactly how much they used to cost them.

I know of a company who offers the Metalphoto in this country so will give them a try so thanks for the tip.

Gary my old firm used to use this process, but I would need to check to see if they still do.
