  • Is there such a thing as short term vehicle wrap?

I’ve had a regular customer in today asking if we can do a short term (cheaper) wrap for his vehicle, its for a race weekend. I’m 99% sure i already know the answer to this one but i thought i would ask the question

No matter the price of the media, cheap or not. you still have to perform the wrap. cheaper media can often mean a more difficult application. so to save some money on the media, you could be looking at a longer and more difficult installation.
if its a digital wrap, you will also have the same production time and ink usage, but could save on the laminate, but even that is minimal.

if this genuinely is a couple of days advertising, then print it onto a 5 year calender. do not wrap it, conform it as such. just apply it over obstacles similar to how you see bus adverts done. "i.e. badly" at the end of the day its to be viewed at a distance travelling 100mph 😀

in my books, a cheap wrap doesnt exist. trying to save this type of customer money always comes back to bite you.

we have done wraps for race weekends and its best just to design the artwork around the panels… basically they get replaced between races after smashes and simple as possible is best.

Agree with Dave, I do a lot of race cars and unless the customer has a huge budget and requires the car to be "just so" then keep it simple and use cheap materials where possible – if you’re not fixing it within a few weeks it’ll almost certainly be coming off at the end of the season. I’m in the midst of doing a very big team and even with the money going into it, budget is still very much in mind as it’s easy to get out of hand.

Sorry, I disagree with you both entirely… Dave and Barry, what you both describe here is your customer requiring a BIG STICKER! 🙂

a wrap is a skilled profession. what you are both after is a big sticker covering an area of whatever to advertise something short term. there is zero skill required in that. sell them the self adhesive print he can stick it on himself, saving him further. 😛
