  • is there other software like Flexi/SignLab support AXYZ?

Posted by David Rowland on May 8, 2006 at 9:45 am

    Hi
We currently using the provided Toolpath software. I explain at a later date the issues as we are working with AXYZ on a number of questions.

I have an opportunty to upgrade from GA to Gerber Omega for output to vinyl cutters, however our old router does have Art Path etc which some of the staff know.

My question, does Omega drive AXYZ routers? Is it in the driver list?

Any other software like Flexi/SignLab support AXYZ?

Has anyone got a good workflow from Corel to ‘router software’… how do you get on with DXF and PLT format from Corel?

    • CADlink has worked closely with AXYZ to provide support for their machines.
    • For a list of supported machines, please go to the CADlink web site, go Downloads >> Plotter Drivers, and choose AXYZ from the list of manufacturers.
    • I would give you a direct link, but the uksignboards moderator function will just delete the link.
    • I would recommend speaking with Tim Benner, who is our Engraving and Routing Sales Manager. Contact info is on the CADlink site.
    • In case you’re interested in speaking in person, Tim is at the Sign UK show in Birmingham this week (May 8 through 13).
    • The SignLab software has strong support for importing DXF (AutoCAD) files and DXT (dxf batch files), with automatic mapping of tool paths to AutoCAD layer or color information.
    • I have not looked at this functionality with respect to CorelDraw, but I can probably drum up a short procedure for you. Please let me know of any details that you feel are pertinent.

    hi dave
i use signlab and axyz software mate… never had any problems.
the axyz software i use is pretty old. couple of years now (have upgrade cd, but havent done it yet 😕 ) anyway… export from signoab as plt file and just import/open in axyz. (im using signlab 5, rev 12) im sure the newer versions will have the capability and more…

    thanks peeps…
Rob… u have PM! Also, if its the case where u can drive direct out of SignLab, why bother with AXYZ Toolpath.

Nick, the new one will be 2.5 i guess, but driver should have been around since the stone age.

Rod… thanks for the comments on ur software.

I use flexi and export as .ai file into toolpath software. Mainly prismatic lettering and works perfect.

Dave, you can design in Omega but you still need Art Path, I was thinking of up-grading from Omega 2 to 2.5 but I have just invested in SL 7 PC thermal add on (supplied by Brian impact graphics) and compared to Omega its fantastic, I would recommend SL with out hesitation.

We use signlab/engravelab/profilelab to output to all our NC machines a tekcel , multiple Isels and a small Roland , superb package for that.
I design in corel and merely export to SL which we use as a front end to our machinery. We also use it to our lasers and could probably use it to our thermal printer and our print and cut Soljet , but dont.
When we bought the tekcel , we got SL5 with all the possible modules. We use the spooler function to send to multiple machines
Im sure it will work just as well with all your stuff.
We use Corel X3 as a front end , X3 is the best UG Corel has produced and for sign and engraving guys , is a wonderful low cost solution , some really nice featrures like the new trace which outperforms many dedicated raster to vector pckages.
