Simon, have a chat to Bill at SignTrade in Nottingham or give Craig at Elite Signs in Cornwall (Newquay I think) a call – Craig is on this site quite a lot and when I needed a hand with a survey down there was only too quick to offer to help.

Low voltage neon is really just ‘normal’ cold cathode tubing run via an inverter rather than a transformer.

Cheers mate, does it still work out the same sort of price as normal high voltage?, and if going inside a window, would it have to be incased.

Low voltage neon is just standard neon tubing powered by low voltage transformers (below 1000 volts)
Amongst other things, with low voltage units you do not need a firemans switch.
On the downside, these units will only run a limited amount of glass.
If you let me know glass diameter, type of gas (neon or argon), and how many sections, i can let you know what units you need.

Cheers Graham… He wants blue, haven’t got the neon chart with me, in 15mm; o/a 3m at top and bottom (4 sections) and 2125 down the sides (2 sections)
    mod-edit

    cheers

    Hi Simon,
Hansen make a range of electronic low voltage converters (www.hansen-neon.de)
Their 990 Volt/ 40 mA units will each run a maximum of 1.8 metres of 15mm Argon.
We are UK distributors for these units, but if you have a word with your glass maker, he may want to supply the units with the glass.
    All the best,
    Graham

    Cheers Graham…
I’m just pricing at the mo…. looks like i would need four or six units then.. compared to one if running high voltage?
Whats a rough price per unit for low voltage,

    Simon

    Hi Simon,
Hansen do a slimline version of the 40/1 unit (dimensions 160mm x 29mm x 25mm) and these are coming out at about £25.00 each
There is also a 40/1 duo, (2 units built into 1 casing, dimensions 186mm x 44mm x 29mm) and these are about £35.00 each (bear in mind you’d need half as many)
If the enquiry comes off, give me a call on 01902 409205.
    Good luck,
    Graham
