    Hi all,

Is there anyway of finding out roughly how much media is left on a roll?! It’s happened far too much whereby I’ve thought there has been enough on the end of a roll, then with a couple of inches of print left to do it’s run out, meaning I have to reprint the whole thing (a pain if it’s a long print!).

Is there anyway or tool I can use to reasonably measure how much is left on a roll?

VPI 540 i rolands have a option to put in how much is on the roll ie a new roll 50mtrs then it counts down so you know how much is left, if you take the roll off wrtite on some masking tape whats let on the roll then when you put it back in put in what is on the roll and it will count down again.

Just pull out the roll core a little and count how many bands of material are left – On the last 5m or so on a roll the average circumference length is 300mm so just x the amount of bands x 300mm this will give you a fairly accurate measurement 😎

    Weight it

Full roll – core weight divided by 50 gives you an estimate weight per meter
I have had some success with this +/- 1 m but be careful as different manufacturers use different density of Core’s so you have to adjust.
