Morning 🙂 i was just wondering.. at the moment i do all my work on an Imac and then have to transfer the file i want to cut to a seperate PC for the cutter to read it.. drives me mad!!!

As im about to get my first Digital printer 🙂 🙂 🙂 i need a PC to run that.. is there anyway i can free up my PC and get my mac to send them straight to the cutter? its a Summa D140.

    Thanks for reading

I don’t know about the D140 in particular, but we have been running Summa, and other cutters, from Macs for years.

    What’s your problem? USB?

    Hi Ben

I cut direct from my imac to my Summa using MacSign, it came with the plotter software and has mac and pc options. I copy and paste from Illustrator into it and then cut, it has limits to what you can do in it as it’s free but to paste and line up and press cut it works perfectly, just set it up and get it ready for cutting in your design software and paste what needs to be cut.

    cheers

If you have the disc then you should have the dongle as well.

There’s no dongle with MacSign, you get the software free but can only use about a tenth of the features unless you upgrade, then you might need a dongle but it runs without one as supplied.

If you didn’t get the disc I’m sure you can download it off the net or even direct from the Summa website.

    cheers
