    Hi everyone,

I have just joined my friends sign biz, but I only use Adobe Design Collection and therefore do not have flexisign.

Is there a way, that we can become interchangeable(sp?) between systems.

My apologies if this is something I should have known, the search wasn’t loading

    thanks

.ai files can be imported directly into flexisign. . Design everything in illustrator, convert all text and strokes to outlines make sure all paths are closed. import into flexi and scale accordingly !

    Thanks Dave,

He wants to be able to edit (in Flexisign) any text that I (in AI) have created, is that possible – or did I just misunderstand what you wrote 🙂 this has happen before!!! 🙄 😀

ah I see what you are saying. . . no I don’t think so. Not easily anyway, not like just placing the curser into the middle of a sentence and start typing. .. .( unless someone knows better )

unfortunately it’s just a case of importing and exporting as ai files. . . text can obviously be modified in either package but you’d need to pay close attention to the style and font settings.

from a production point of view get him to buy illustrator

    😀

As long as you have the fonts on both systems you can use and edit the .ai files.

You might have to save as an earlier version though as Adobe bring out a new version of Illustrator every 2 weeks and add pointless new stuff to it so the files won’t load in other companies software.

    Thanks guys,

I got the CS3 Design Premium and he got the Flexisign 8.1 package.

I am not very good, at Flexisign, well, I spend an hour on it, and I have used AI on and off since 2000…I should be a whole lot better at AI then I am, but I do enjoy it, so I am sure I will improve.

I will try to save it in an earlier version, maybe then it will working reading AI in Flexi

We are also thinking of getting Flexisign Designer, when we upgrade to Flexisign 8.5 …though I will still keep my CS3 🙂

Have any of you been using the Designer in Flexisign?

this signmaking business isn’t as easy as photo retouching 🙂 hmm, or maybe I should give it a few more years and it might be! (:) :lol1:

    thanks again all
