Posted by Steve Dawson on July 6, 2005 at 2:44 pm

i have many suppliers catalog’s etc , but they don’t have what I’m looking for…

I’m after a good stock of pin striping , the stuff you see in car shops , 2mm , 4mm etc etc….

have tried a search on google , but i’m not sure the proper name for the stuff…

anybody got any ideas , or a make/brand i can work with ??

    cheers , SD

    Hi mate,
Have you tried the vinyl Corporation in Nottinghamshire? They usually have a massive stock.

Do you have a big demand for pinstripes?
I either make my own or buy from the car shop when needed. They are sort of out of fashion now, and I only use them for repair jobs, or the occasional older vehicle.
BTW ever heard of a Bugler?

You may be over my head here , not always the best on picking things up , so here goes my daft answer “you mean a bloke with a lot of puff ?”

As for the stripes , its not for cars , its for signs , didn’t want to be cutting bit and bobs , would have like a range of rolls handy….

Peter , how are you making yours……has anybody ever tried slicing a bit of the end of a full roll ??

A bugler is an american bit of kit that dos stripes with paint, Quite good once you have got used to them.
For stripes, I use offcuts from the edge of jobs, or just cut them when I have a longish graphic to cut that is not quite the width of the vinyl.
You can build up a stock in no time.
There is also a slitter on the market, cant remember who does them, but it has 2 adjustable razor blades and you just run the vinyl through.

safe yourself time and money mate, cut them when doing your signs, vans etc.
even if you get some on the roll, the life of them will more than likely be inferior to the vinyl you use and you will never get a match on the colours needed or used with the sign you are making. i.e. tomato red text, medium red border. best way is to cut prespeced ones or even encorporate some corner flourishes to your signs. the possibilities are endless.

slicing the end off a roll, dont even go there mate. trust me 😀
