    Hi all,

may sound daft, but as you are all aware, I am still learning. Hubby has just bought me a Cadet – Can you print on COLOURED vinyl, such as you use for normal ‘cut’ type graphics?

    Many thanks,
    Dawn

You can print onto it but you will get varying results depending on the colour, Inkjet printers don’t put down much ink that’s why they are developing the ones with white ink to use as an undercoat.

If you print onto silver you get the colours looking slightly metallic and darker, other colours will cause a colour shift. i.e. print red onto yellow and you get orange etc.

Dark colours will mask the print altogether though so don’t expect usable results.

I also print onto clear for some jobs like white or silver vans. I’ve also coated mirror silver in clear vinyl and printed and cut that to make logo’s, looks very nice if done right.

Printing black onto yellow/blue etc vinyl saves ink for safety signs.
