Is it Friday Night Yet?
Posted by Jill Marie Welsh on December 17, 2010 at 7:32 pmSo what are we doing this evening?
I am almost finished with 3 full months of renovating the interior of my home (mostly by myself)
Tonight I am going out to dinner with my two grown kids.
I won’t be able to imbibe as one of the aforementioned kids is 9 months pregnant and may need a ride to the hospital sometime in the very near future.
(especially as she had some sort of massage today which supposedly triggers labor)
All I have left to do is paint the staircase risers but I even have to be careful about that in case we need to get the heck out of here fast.

im not long home, cold long day. not particularly hard, just the sever cold winds and ice conditions make the simplest of tasks like measureing a shop front a bloody night mare. i.e. parked van next to kerb at a shop… about to get out the door and noticed the van moving… i was sliding "parked" into the car in front parked… we managed to stop it but was close.
anyway, home now, Rose wine out the fridge… some Itunes on, and going to get some online chores done now. 😀

Tonight I am mostly just sitting watching Alison put the Christmas tree and decorations up.
-
it must be Friday just had a delicious curry home made by Peters fair hands 😀
Lynn

That’s a myth Chris, that character never existed in Captain Pugwash 😉
-
yes he did Martin
I believe Seaman Staines was based on your good self
😀Only jokin 😀
-
Sorry Peter but your wrong, the other higher ranked character was based on me 😳 😳
-
That’s the one Peter, don’t forget I live on my own now 😥 😥
-
just for the younger viewers
who dont know what we are talking aboutIt’s frequently claimed that some of the characters in the children’s show
Captain Pugwash had somewhat suggestive names: "Master Bates", "Seaman
Staines" and "Roger the cabin boy". Not so; this is a classic urban legend.
The crew of The Black Pig were: Captain Pugwash, Master Mate, Pirate
Barnabas, Pirate Willy, and Tom the cabin boy. Several British newspapers
have fallen for this UL and were forced to print retractions. It’s possible that, on occasion, the name "Master Mate" was slyly altered
to "Master Bate". In the episode Fair Exchange (BBC video, "Seafaring
Tales"), the final line, spoken by Pugwash, sounds like "I certainly did
Master Bate." Pugwash’s voice is rather indistinct, so it’s hard to be
sure. -
Oh come on Peter…………… you don’t spoil a good story with the truth :lol1: :lol1:
I know people who swear those names were actually used even when they have been shown proof that someone made them up at a latter date.
-
Martin do you remember
Torchy Torchy, the battery boy?
Peter
-
No sorry Peter, to be honest I don’t really remember much about any telly from my youth, mainly because my parents didn’t have a telly when I was small and as soon as I was old enough to go out to play I was never in until bed time.
-
I see Seaman Staines has registered on uksb, so he may be a bit older, but still a plonker!
Peter
-
It’s OK Chris, I knew what you were talking about, Peter’s a Little older so you have to excuse him

Just back from a small party to celebrate my Mum’s 80th….had to cancel a bigger party because of the weather! 🙁 🙁
She has been through the mill recently but is still as sharp as a knife!
Some songs and a poem my wife and I commissioned from a poet friend. Great fun, there is something special about seeing your own children enjoying your parents! A have a wee tear in my eye….or is that snow flakes… 😀 -
betcha the next registered user will be master batin.
probably whilst looking at Seaman Staines.I really should not encourage these sad people though.

Cripes Martin – you don’t look old enough to have family never mind a dog that’s 30 in dog years 😕
-
How’s my dog 30 in dog years ???
She is only 18 months old and by my math’s which is reasonable that makes her ten and a half.
Harry, thought that was just my bad eye sight :lol1: :lol1:

Rob I’ve never known you to be a sleeper!
😀
I had a hard time sleeping last night…too much fish sandwich and my hair smelled like the bar and deep fried food.
Not a good combo.

I know when I log on late at night (for me about 8-9pm) you’re always still here.
You must have caught up with the last decade of lost sleep!
My day will be spent with that last little bit of touch up paint.
Then I am not going to do diddly squat for a whole day!
