Crumbs! I thought you were asking if anybody was still using Corel 3! 🙄

    I still have a Corel 3 (somewhere!)

Yes I’m using X3 for all my typesetting and for some sign layouts – mainly SL for signs. Yes I think it is worth the upgrade and I do have some extra VBAs here which can help signmakers and users in general even more, but as I am not allowed to post an email or web address I don’t know how to distribute them.
Is there anything specific you want to know?

I honestly think X3 is worth the upgrade for the trace alone – this time it actually works !

and a real handy create boundry tool

I picked up the trial from the NEC show…quite easy to pick up. I am normally an Adobe Illustrator person, but this X3 is great.

I haven’t done any cutting yet though…is it easy to cut with this?

I tried a trace with it on Friday, fantastic!

X3 is marvellous for signmakers , it is a fantastic and a no brainer upgrade.
the trace alone is worth it , but the photopaint knockout lab . create boundry in draw as well as the smart fill and a whole host of other little features make it a bargain.

    VBA’s?

VBA – visual basic macros – gms files as found in the gms folder of Draw and accessed from ‘tools – visual basic – play’. These can be used to add functions to Draw ie page numbering/tiling as in step and repeat, crop marks to objects, colour replace plus loads and loads of others. http://www.oberonplace.com and http://www.isocalc.com are good sources, some free or at least very cheap. I have one here that removes the ‘knockouts’ when you trace in X3, well worth a look and because they a vb they can be written by third parties. Word has it too but I don’t much about that.

    Hi Alan

I am intersted in your VBA that removes knockouts when you trace. Do you mean the duplicate contours you get after tracing? It seems the picture has been traced twice, you have to click on each object and remove the duplication?

    Cheers David

David, not sure how to explain, so black square with yellow circle – when traced remove yellow – hole present in square. With this script remove yellow circle – solid square remaining. Not tried it with complicated objects but simple ones are ok. I’ll try and check just to be sure it is in the public domain.
