iPhone users – Good apps?
Posted by John Wilson on November 16, 2008 at 10:24 amOk upgraded to the new 3G iPhone from my 1st gen iPhone
I’ve never really bothered with buying apps until now and I see there is so many apps that are the same as each other
Anyone found any good apps for the signage world??
I downloaded ex level – spirit level for the iPhone
I’m looking for a unit converter but there seems so many that I’m not sure which one to go for yet
I keep hearing rumours about connecting the iPhone to your laptop via wifi and using the phones 3G network as an internet connection so can’t wait for that one 😀

My friend made this one, http://www.isnort.co.uk/download.html don’t show it to people in nightclubs though, the bouncers don’t ask questions and you will find yourself being introduced to the pavement! 🙁 🙁

you can connect the iphone to your laptop (tethering), but you must jailbreak the iphone.

Nothing to do with signmaking, but……
The Sky+ app allows you to programme your Sky+ recorder from your iPhone.
Brilliant if you forget to do it before you go out, or on holiday, or whatever.

just released Daylite Touch.
Daylite is the best CRM app for macs.

Better than OmniFocus?
-
Omnifocus is more a task manager. Daylite is much more advanced for business stuff, really good.
However it has take me some time to control and see their potential for my business.
Not easy at the beginning but when you understand the base, it’s very, very useful. -
The downside of Daylite, as far as I can see, is that you need to be in your office to sync.
With an iCal, Contacts, OmniFocus and MobileMe combination it’s all synced immediately wherever you are. That’s a bit too useful to me to consider changing to Daylite.
It’s not cheap either is it? I would need four Daylite subscriptions.

i like the idea of the sky plus application but still a little unsure on the colour matching app Andrew.
i am saying this with zero knowledge over how this works, but if scanning a colour for a reference will room lighting, over shadowing from camera if close etc not have an effect over the result of the scan? as i said, i have no experience here just thinking out loud. 😀 -
You don’t need to be in your office to sync, it can be done via internet.
More expensive than Omnifocus but you must add the MobileMe service.
Really I don’t sell Daylite, but if you are in business, just check it. I think there’s a 30 days free trial.
I am very surprised with it although I didn’t use OmniFocus or any other GTD app before seriously. It’s helping me to be very organized, get more works and kept all under control.
And now they have released Daylite Touch…
-
We use MobileMe, 30 days free trial initially, excellent to keep you moving etc.
Very good, but don’t use an iphone at the moment, still trying to get on with my wifes one, sticking with the good old nokia 8910i for the time being.

WhatTheFont app is free and just runs off whatthefont.com database
Anyone else tried it yet? It’s amazing
Bet the Blackberry can’t do that either 😉

i wouldn’t know mate, i use computers for that type of thing. 😉
in all honesty, useful apps is one thing, but apps like the one in question… well… i don’t really see the point.
why search for a font when I’m out on the road, then when i find the name of it, have to Waite till I’m back at work to look it up and install on my computer to use then. 😕 :lol1: -

Plus if you’ve got a laptop out on the road with you too then you can make the design up for the customer while sitting in a nearby pub 😉 Only on a saturday of course :lol1: :lol1: :lol1:
