i need to put a new hard disk in my internet computer which is old and now slow. tried tidying it up.

norton has run out so i can start a fresh, i have always thought it did its job but at the cost of a lot of resources.

    so whats better ?
is it possible to move selected programs over to save reloading them.

I use Avast Anti Virus Suite its free fo "non-commercial" use and a lot cheaper than Norton etc for a paid copy. Most AV products take up a lot of resources to do their job properly, Avast does take a bit too.

As to the copying programs over, not really as you also need the registry updates that would normally happen during a full install.

    Hi
There is software out readily there that can copy programs from your old hard disk to the new one but from what you are saying I wouldn’t bother. If your old ones running slow cos of some corruptions, unnecessary files etc then they may copy to the new one too.

Much better to start new with a clean program in my opinion.
