Found myself in a very unfortunate position, business insurance policy is coming up for renewal days before my multi-vehicle policy is due to expire. Just in time for the wheels to fall off the entire planet. Does anyone have any thoughts or opinions on ‘Sign Elite’? They’ve come in with a really decent price for the whole thing, lots of extras thrown in that weren’t covered before but there’s only one way to know if you’re insurers are any good. Anybody using them?

We’ve been with them 2/3 years now and albeit never had to claim, what we are covered for and the little things that other companies won’t/don’t cover for and sign elite do makes the difference to me.

While we haven’t claimed, I did email them when the covid19 situation kicked off to ask if business interruption would be covered and obviously it wasn’t the same as all other insurers BUT they did come back fairly swift, it wasn’t a generic email and they offered some advice for some other situations that would be covered so I’m that sense, I really can’t fault them.

At renewals they always make sure to double check with me if we have added any machinery etc to make sure we are covered.

I have bee with our insurance company for a great many years now, and the only company I did consider using was SignElite. Mainly because they tailor their packages for our industry and have been around a long time now. They also provide insurance cover for a lot of ISA-UK members, and I have only heard good reports. hence why I considered moving to them.

I think when you have an industry-specific company catering for our needs, it can be advantageous as they will cover you for much more than a general insurance company would or could without the extra costs to bolt them on.

Another sign elite customer. But again no claim.
Same as yourself. We were insured with axa and thought during phone calls with them we were covered for everything, sign elite told us otherwise.

Ideally I’d never like to make a claim but it’s nice to know that they consider us to have all bases covered… apart from a virus pandemic.. bet golf sized hail stones are not in there either

Good question Kevin. I’m in a similar position in that my business insurance is due for renewal in April. I have just recently renewed my van insurance with a specialist motor trade policy that also covers me to drive customers vehicles.

I have recently contacted my broker to ask if there is a restricted policy that could be put into place given the current situation in which we are not actually trading at the moment and cashflow is king. So far I have not heard back which is rather dissapointing under the circumstances so now I am more open to looking around.

Another option I have considered is to allow my insurance to lapse and not renew until we are back in business but not sure how exposed this leaves me? Obviously my equipment and stock of materials would be at risk but my buildings insurance is covered by a separate policy which obviously I wouldn’t allow to lapse. Also If I do not renew then I would no longer have public liability insurance either.

I’d worry too much for that Phill, sod’s law would suggest that we never need insurance unless we haven’t got it.

i am with signelite but they do come up with some odd things sometimes.
one thing to look at is value of customer vehicles in your care. also we found there driving customer vehicles on the road very prohibitive cost wise so don’t. also found lots of things silly imo. till you query it with them then they go back to the insurers then alter the policy to suit.
inc storage of tar and glue remover ipa other cleaning fluids you buy in 5 or 25 lt and they want it in 1 lt bottles ??
the average new van is valued far higher than there normal vehicle max cover.
endless emails about a new door the landlord fitted and the locks ?
a 1mt cage around a small heater thats 2 mt wide 1mt high and a mt in front ? well thats a quarter of the workshop taken up.

i had a massive head crash that on first investigation took out 4 of the 6 heads. i asked about a possible claim for the repairs. whilst waiting and over the next few days i managed to repair all with out replacement. but because i asked about a claim its on record i have claimed and they wont remove it. they say it does not affect my premium but not happy about it

any body would think i am bored
