  • Install of sign tray in difficult location. Advise needed?

    Hi Guys,

Quick question to see if you guys have a better idea or what your install method would be.

We have to install a 4M sign tray with 2inch returns for a local business. Issue is the location that he wants this installed we can’t access the top of the sign tray to apply the fixings. I don’t want to go down the route of using any type of adhesive as in future if we need to change the transformer or anything else we won’t be able to access behind the tray 8).

What do you guys do in situations like this?.

    Any advice appreciated.

    Tas

    Hi

    (a) make the sign tray with an extra upward return lip on the very top edge

or (b) fix a length of ‘L’ angle on the top return edge (covered in the same vinyl as the tray)

either way gives you something to face fix into – you might need to get a longer bit for your drill to fit into the gap.

    Cheers
    Dave

I always use Dave’s method A, done a fair few like this. Method B also a very good idea !

Or if you can’t get above the sign we’ve used the following method, where and internal sign went right up the ceiling (excuse my crap diagram)

Screws into the ceiling, leaving 10mm + head out. Put some key hole shaped holes in the top. Push up and pull forward into the narrow part of the key hole slot.

Fix along the bottom edge as usual. We actually did the reverse lip, and screwed into the wall as it was hidden by the skirting board.

Guys, thanks for taking the time out to draw diagrams 8). I’ll have to go back now and see which method I can use.

Why do I always have to get the difficult jobs 8(.

    Thanks again, Tas.

    quote David McDonald:

    (a) make the sign tray with an extra upward return lip on the very top edge
    (b) fix a length of ‘L’ angle on the top return edge (covered in the same vinyl as the tray)

We also do both methods above as Dave says.
