Has anybody used the Inktec inks, there on BOGOFF till end of month, tempting but I am still on the fence.
Are they really as good as they say? or am I just penny pinching?

    Thanks
    Phil

Not tried these but have had (really short) go’s with both ITL Evosol and the BioMG ones. Didnt like either. The Bio ones smelled really bad and the ITL evosol ones caused loads of overspray on magenta (so a purple letter would have magenta haze all round it)

I dont want any suppliers taking the huff, I’m not bashing these inks but they just dont suit me and more importantly our printer.

I’m not messing with anything else now, thats it, I’m sticking with the genuine stuff – it really does make a difference……. to me anyway!

Inktec advertise here that they are as good as TECHink, the inks that I use.

Can’t vouch for that, but Bulk inks on both my sc540’s work a treat, and I’ve never regretted the changeover.

Thats interesting Shane…….i’ve got a Roland 540 Pro3, i’ve been thinking of changing over to a cheaper ink but i never go through with it. There can be a considerable saving in the pocket but there are so many people say its a risk for the print heads on the machine.
Are you still finding everything OK?
When did you move over to these inks?
What do yo think to the colours and quality of print?

I have to watch what i say here because "i know" i have mixed this up in the past. one of the inks mentioned is good, one is… well "what i have heard" from a few folk, particularly technicians is that the UK ink is lets say, not the cleanest of inks to run in your machine. the ink Shane mentions has a good reputation but the other… well…
i don’t like knocking the UK ink because i am without first hand experience and that’s not something i am comfortable with when passing judgment as such. but having heard this via various "unconnected" folk in the know, several times… its hard not to at least mention it.

so in a nutshell, just my thoughts on the subject, take what you wish from it… certainly not gospel. đŸ˜€

    Hi Pryam,

Print heads are definately a consideration, and the decision is a serious one. I’ve since heard some unflattering comments about inkTec as rob suggests, so I’m not actually convinced that they are as good as Techink.

From my persective, my print heads recover easier, and I replace one a year on average, considering I have two machines, 1 head out of 12 is great odds.

The colours are strong, and because I run wasatch softrip, I run both my machines as CMYKOG, but the lc and lm versions are just as strong as original inks.

The beauty of techink is that the pigments are probably the finest in the industry. The coarser the inks, the quicker the heads wear.

The finer the pigments the dearer the production costs of the ink, which explains why the Techink is on the dearer end of the scale.

I know of some machine owners that go thru 4 to 6 heads a year, one friend of mine was going thru upto 9 heads a year using a cheaper bulk system, and since he has changed to Techink, that has resulted in huge savings making his costs tumble.

The key is maintenance. Like all solvent inks, you need to maintain a regime of weekly maintenance (cleaning the heads and pumps) especially here with our hot weather. I think the eco inks have less issues in that regard

I’ve been using Techink for about 7 years now, and I can vouch for their quality and colours.

My only thought is that the pro3 has chipped cartridges? You’d have to talk to your techink guys locally to see how they get around that problem if they do.

Its also worth noting that Techink are actually OEM suppliers to some of the major manufactureres, so they are well aware of what their inks do to the machines over time.

Feel free to send me a file and I’ll print it on my 540sc and post it back to you.

    Cheers
    Shane

I recently had some problems with ITL inks, the promise being they would slot straight in without flushing old inks etc! The problems started when doing the sides of a box van, the colours just wouldn’t match so thought the head had dropped a colour or something similar but no, it was the inks slowly mixing with the originals but even with the manufacturers profiles, the colours were bloody awful and just looked bad (a sepia print came out khaki! and the black always had a slight blue tinge to it)
Have now flushed them out and gone back to Roland originals, just don’t think it’s worth saving the money if it means all this hassle.

Tried them for 3 months, to save money. Big mistake. As Malcolm found the colours were all over the place. So I switched back to OEM Inks.
