• Ink levels

A useful tip for anyone with a Cadet or Versacamm (the same may also apply to other printers)

As most people know – the machines ink level indicators are re-set every time a cartridge is removed and re-inserted. Thus a half empty cartridge will register as full again (if removed to ascertain it’s weight to determine how much ink is left).

However – it is useful to know that If you remove a cartridge while the machine is switched off from the mains you can then re-insert it without re-setting the ink level recorded by the machine.

Hence – if you want to gauge how much ink is left in each cartridge without re-setting the ink level counter, do this first thing before you switch the machine on every morning.

handy tip phill but is it not better to have a set of carts spare and not worry about it. the level indicators are only partially accurate when the tag triggers the switch approx 10% left. but the machine can be told to carry on if it triggers at the start of a print.

    Hello Phil,

I’d just like to add that my versacamm doesn’t reset its ink level indicators when the carts are removed.

Recently i have had a problem with the print heads which has meant that the carts have had to be removed and reinserted a few times in between inserting the cleaning solution carts and the ink level indicators have shown the ink level as displayed previously before removing the cart.
