  • Info on printing on mugs please ?

Posted by Mike Fear on November 4, 2005 at 9:17 am

Not something I’ve bothered with before but am thinking of doing it as someone has approched me asking – printing onto mugs.

The designs would be simple one colour bold ones probably onto white mugs, so wouldnt need anything really fancy, and preferably a cheap method that gives good quality.

Would also be nice to be able to print in gold or silver onto black mugs if poss.

So, wheres the best place to start ? someone mentioned using dye sub printed on an inkjet printer with special carts and a heat press to apply them ?

Anyone have any good links to suppliers for blank mugs, materials etc.. ?

Would be interested to hear from anyone already doing this to see what sort of options are available.

    Ta

A mug wrap could be a good way to start. They cost about £25, a lot cheaper than a press. You just insert the mug and put in an oven, takes longer than a press but some people have a load of them, half in oven whilst loading up the other half ready to change over. You can also get wraps for other items such as dog bowls. Have a look at http://www.thetransferpress.co.uk They sell them.
    Cheers
