Infill for deep engraved plate?
In the process of getting an engraved plate done for a 100 year old Steam Roller, its about 350 wide by 130 high to give it some scale. Depth of engraving is 1.5mm.
The guy wants to have the letters infilled which usually wouldn’t be an issue on basic name plates but as steam engines are relentlessly polished to keep the brass work nice and shiny after being splattered in oil, steam, smoke and dust the infill needs to be of sufficient strength / durability to put up with the extra polishing.
The old plate is being replaced because some of the characters can hardly be seen due to all the polishing it has put up with over its 100 year life. (2nd Pic)
I have been thinking that maybe resin would offer the best durability but open to suggestions from anyone who might know better.
Thanks in advance
