Some times I think my customers imagine I have superhuman powers and that normal health and safety concerns do not apply to me.

This morning we were experiencing storm force winds – 60-70mph. A customer that I have done window graphics for in the past (but not their main sign) phoned to say the main sign was flapping about in the winds and could I come and take it down straight away. I explained that it was to dangerous to try and do anything during the high winds to be told:- "But I’m worried some one could get hurt" if it’s not fixed straight away 🙄

Do they think I am impervious to storm force winds?

I didn’t even put the sign up in the first place.

How come no ones worried about my safety 😕

If it was a danger to the public they should have telephoned the emergency services and arranged to shut off the street to any traffic or pedestrians 🙄

haha. . and I thought I was the only person to get this. . .

makes me laugh when customers think you are using the weather as an excuse. . .. " Awwww don’t like getting wet ? "

No actually I haven’t got a problem getting wet, I do have a problem about slipping off my trestles in the wet and breaking my neck tho !

I was in a cherry picker today, there was a little notice that said "do not use in winds over 28 mph. trouble was, it wasn’t fitted with a whatsit gauge, to tell me the actual speed of the wind.

it was higher than specified, I think.

But then it didn’t really matter,

As I AM an INDESTRUCTIBLE sign maker 😀

OK, joking apart, what are these people on?

    Peter,

Does that mean you have to wear your pants over your trousers ?

we have dozens of signs to do soon due to the high winds. like you, we are asked to come out and make safe. if the sign is not going to stay in place with a couple of screws they are given an option. we don’t touch it and they get someone else or we tear it down. i don’t mean carelessly, i just mean clear the area and do what has to be done to get it down without any regard to saving the sign.
i have a big one to put up today, I’ve put it off last couple of days as weather isn’t breaking… today seems nice and calm and my cold is breaking 🙁
so its off to the west end of Glasgow now for a 16′ x 8′ sign. (oh joy, cant wait 🙄 )
