• Importing form China

Posted by Daniel Evans on February 25, 2016 at 11:25 am

    Hey guys

I’m looking at buying a laminator, I’ve found one on a website in china and I’m looking at getting on imported.

Has anyone done this and can help?

I’ve been asked for a seaport which is easy, but I don’t understand about FOB and CIF?

Do I need to collect it from the port myself or arrange someone this end to collect it?

    How do i pay tax?

A lot of questions but the saving seems huge

Funny enough john, that is the exact model I’m looking at.

Can you go into a little more detail on how I arrange shipping?

What do I need to ask, what do I need to do to cover myself.

    Thanks

I arranged a price delivered to the UK………normal one the Chinese use is Folkstone.

Order through Aliexpress.com and you have buyer protection

I hired an import agent ( the port will contact you before the ship docks because there are heavy penalties if your crate stays in the port more than 48 hrs) to take care of all the import papaerwork, customs , import tax, VAT etc.
The cost of this is well worth it. They also sorted delivery to my door….ask for a truck with a tail lift!!!!! The machine is very heavy.

All in I have been very happy with the laminator
Importing is not for everyone but I like the process and the saving 😀

    Hi John

Just checked aliexpress and they don’t appear to have that one on there anymore. 🙁

In regards to shipping, how much roughly was the import agent, tax etc etc etc.

I’ve got a price from china for the machine, just trying workout the exact cost i’ll be paying so there’s no surprises.
