  • Ideas Needed…..please!

Posted by Martin Pearson on June 27, 2003 at 9:34 pm

Hi all, I am hoping someone might be able to give me some ideas for a job I have been asked to quote.
The signs are to be for internal use, there are a couple at A3 size and a couple at A1, blue text on a white background. Apparently there is not a lot of text and it is fairly large.
The problem is that they want these signs to be vandal resistant and they want some kind of tamper proof fixings to prevent them being removed from the walls. As far as I am aware they are not bothered about graffitti just the signs being broken or pulled off the walls.
I know there is no such thing as a totally vandal proof sign so I guess I am looking for the next best thing. any help or advice would be much appriciated.

Why not mask/stencil it and paint directly on the wall(s). I’d like to see them pull that off!

The signs are to be for internal use..they want these signs to be vandal resistant …nice place hey. What i would use is 3 mm white acrylic with blue text applied and a 3mm polycarb face panel double sided together
framed in panatrim standard (using hex head fixing in the panatrim if necessary)

    Martin,

I’d get some aluminium plates, cover them in vinyl (white) and then cut vinyl lettering (blue), take ‘um down the local body shop and have the lot laquered and baked in the spray oven (probably £30 or so) and then apply a layer of grip-fil builders fixative to the back along with some double sided carpet tape (yes carpet tape – have you ever tried to get this stuff off the floor!) to hold them in place while the gripfil goes off!

..only make sure they’re level and in the right place before you leave them! – cus they’re not gunna’ come off!

…good point Mark – though most paint-shops will be using two-pack which is fine – but it would be good to ask first!….[grin]

Would Frogjuice not be as good as laquer? It is supposedly designed to be put on vinyl.
